Launching September 2026
Sunshine+Kittens is the immersive money experience designed for today's kids aged 6–12, with financial literacy at its core. Cinematic, joyful, and genuinely life-changing.
The money experience built for kids.
Most kids aren't taught how money works.
Financial literacy is one of the most important life skills a child can have, yet one of the least taught. UK secondary school pupils receive an average of just 11 minutes of financial education a week. This isn't a gap. It's a crisis.
Everything else switches kids off.
Most kids' money products are just bank accounts in disguise. Forms, balances, statements. Children switch off in seconds. Our challenge was different: build something that meets kids in their world, reward-driven and digital-first, whilst teaching financial literacy that can genuinely change their lives.
Sunshine+Kittens presents the KSA
Introducing the Kitten Space Academy: a universe of characters, real missions and worlds built entirely around earning, saving, budgeting and understanding value. Think more Minecraft than maths club. Gamified learning has been shown to improve knowledge retention by up to 90% compared to traditional teaching. We built an entire universe around that one fact.
Our approach
More Minecraft than maths club.
Most financial education is delivered the same way it has been for decades: read it, watch it, forget it. We took a different view. Children retain far more when they learn by doing rather than by being told.
So instead of lessons, we built missions. Instead of a curriculum, we built a universe. Every game mechanic inside the KSA was designed around a single financial concept, tested with real families and refined until it worked.
Our foundational principles
Researched.
Challenged.
Tested.
A Clear Mission
Play isn't a reward we add on top of learning. It's the method itself. Children are hardwired to learn through play long before they learn through instruction, so we built everything, every mission, every interaction, around that single, simple truth.
Kids learn by doing. Every time.
Our cultural DNA
Kids already live inside gaming, animation, music and design culture every single day. We use that same culture to shift the conversation around money, moving children away from the debt-first habits that now start shockingly young, and towards confident, positive financial decision-making from the very beginning.
Culture to Change Culture®
Create Lasting Change
Every decision we make, from the curriculum to the smallest piece of interface design, is held to one standard: does this genuinely improve a child's understanding of money? Financial literacy is one of the greatest tools for social mobility, and we believe every child deserves access to it, not just the ones whose families can already afford to teach it.
Redefining the conversation
Designed for every kid. Built to work everywhere.
Different.
By design.
Financial Literacy First
Gamification is the method. Literacy is the goal.
Gamification works because it's proven to outperform passive learning methods like reading and video. We use it deliberately, as the delivery mechanism for a curriculum built by financial education specialists, not as a substitute for one. Every mission is a genuine financial concept in disguise, reinforced through repetition until it sticks.
A Universe, Not a World
A universe where money makes sense.
This isn't a quiz, a video or paragraphs of text. It's an entire universe where every financial decision drives the adventure forward. Children don't feel like they're learning. They feel like they're playing. That isn't an accident. It's the entire design philosophy.
Designed For Kids, By Big Kids
Built for ages 6 – 12. Every single one.
Six year olds and twelve year olds are very different people. So the KSA was designed from day one to flex across that entire age range, with missions and challenges that grow in depth as children do. The result? An experience that never talks down and never leaves anyone behind.
This isn’t another pocket money app.
From first click to first conversation.
How Sunshine+Kittens works
First Contact
Two minutes. Lift off.
Sunshine+Kittens was never going to be a money account with a cartoon logo bolted on. We built it the other way round: start with what genuinely excites a child, then engineer the financial learning to live inside it. From the very first click, kids enter a world built entirely for them. That's not a gimmick. It's the whole strategy.
Inside The KSA
Blast off. KSA style.
There's no form-filling, no dull onboarding sequence, no tutorial that feels like homework. The moment the app opens, children are inside the Kitten Space Academy universe. Real missions. Real financial decisions. Understanding builds before they even realise it's happening.
Making Contact
Beyond the screen.
Parents consistently tell us they end up learning alongside their kids. The KSA sparks conversations about money that simply wouldn't happen otherwise. We're also building technology that extends that connection further, giving parents real visibility into what their children are learning and achieving. More on that soon. Watch this space.
It takes a village to raise a child
